TAMMS, Ill. -- Robert S. Kerr, 90, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Tamms, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1992, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

He was born Dec. 10, 1901 at Oakdale, Ill., son of Joseph H. and Mary A. Patton Kerr.

He married Nell Todd, who survives of Cape Girardeau.

Kerr was a member of the E&R United Church of Christ in Tamms.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, earning a bachelor's degree in 1939 and a master's degree in 1949.

He was a school teacher for 40 years, teaching for 37 of those years in the Tamms area.

He was director emeritus of Tamms State Bank. He was elected to the board in 1957, served as president from 1963-1974, and then as board chairman from 1974-1986.

He was a member of the Caledonia Lodge No. 47 AF and AM, and the O.E.S. Caledonia Chapter 587. He was also one of the organizers of the Tamms Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one brother, William Kerr of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and a sister, Margaret Dahncke of Oakdale, Ill.

One brother, George Kerr, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the E&R United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jesse Hendrix officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery at Swanwick, Ill.
