SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Robert Carl "Bob" Rosenquist, 76, of Scott City died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Robert Carl "Bob" Rosenquist, 76, of Scott City died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 23, 1923, in Oak Park, Ill., son of Carl and Ruth Burgland Rosenquist. He and Betty Lou Sanford Ressel were married on Dec. 29, 1978, at Perry, Ga.

He taught school at Illmo-Fornfelt High School and taught mechanical drawing at Sikeston Vocational School. He had also worked as an engineer for Davis Electric.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Jackson American Legion, Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838, Sikeston Eagles and the Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810.

He played the trumpet in Chaffee Junior Band and high school and played in the 140th Infantry Band. He remained active in music, playing with the Bob Rosenquist Band locally and in Rio Grande Valley, Texas. He was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame Band.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Carl Rosenquist of Poplar Bluff, Roger Rosenquist of Ste. Genevieve and Dr. Chris Rosenquist of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Ed Ressel of Kelso and James Ressel of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters, Deaonna Dale of Salem and Debbie Dannenmueller of Scott City; a brother, Johnny Rosenquist of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a sister, Lucille Marshall of Leasburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren;

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. An Elks service will be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Herring officiating. Military graveside honors will follow at Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
