CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Robert James "Bob" Rolwing, 89, of Charleston died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.
Born Oct. 17, 1930, in the Texas Bend Community of Mississippi County, Missouri, to the late Paul Lawrence Rolwing and Elizabeth Margaret Wessels Rolwing, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life. A graduate of St. Henry High School, he was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Having farmed his entire life, he was a landowner and farmed as Rolwing Farms with his brother, Bert. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict.
On May 25, 1957, he married Joyce Alberta Chappell, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving are his brother, Monsignor Richard Rolwing of Cape Girardeau; sister, Mary Agnes Belviy of New Albany, Indiana; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert "Bert" Rolwing, Cornelius Rolwing and Herman Rolwing.
There is no public visitation.
Family and friends are welcome to join in celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. The Rev. David Dohogne, pastor, will serve as celebrant. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Larry Rolwing, Dennis Rolwing, Lee Welch, Carl Welch, Bruce Chapman, Christopher Chapman, Ethan Welch and Clayton Spaulding. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Renaud, Don Rolwing and Phil Rolwing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Henry School, 306 Court St., Charleston, MO 63834.
