Robert J. "Bob" Polack Sr., 85, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, to Edward A. and Anita Brune Polack. He and Dorothy V. Gillespie were married April 18, 1953, in Cape Girardeau.
Bob was a 1944 graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Bob was an owner of E.A. Polack Plumbing and Heating. He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel and was instrumental in the construction of the church building on Cape Rock Drive. He was also a member of VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Helen Polack of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Robert J. Polack Jr. and wife Joy Bell, John Edward Polack of Cape Girardeau; and a grandson, John Polack of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Polack; and two sisters, Marie Harshaw and Ruth McCain.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Full military rites will be provided by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honors Team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Saxony Lutheran High School.
