Robert Lee "Bob" Ogles, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Harrisburg, Ark., to Leroy and Lola B. Thomas Ogles. He and Wilma R. Johnston were married Aug. 5, 1950, in Paragould, Ark.
Bob was a member and deacon at Red Star Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon at Miner Baptist Church in Miner, Mo. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved teaching his kids and grandkids to hunt and fish. His family said he was the kindest man they ever knew. He retired from ABF Trucking 20 years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Ruth Ogles of Cape Girardeau; a son, Jerry Lee Ogles (Jane) of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Pamela Deane Ogles of Columbia, Mo.; four grandchildren, Dr. Mitch Ogles (Julie) of Brandon, Miss., Dr. Ricky Ogles (Amy) of Columbia, Matthew Ogles of St. Louis, Andrew Ogles of St. Charles, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Chapman Ogles and Caroline Ogles of Brandon, Caden Ogles and Avery Lynn Ogles of Columbia; and a daughter-in-law, Terry Ogles of St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Max Ogles; and a brother, Kenneth Lyle Ogles.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Parry officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be given to Red Star Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
