JONESBORO, Ill. -- Funeral for Robert Mayberry of Jonesboro will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home. The Revs. Herbert Wilson and D.W. Cobb will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Mission Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
Mayberry, 77, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1921, in Jonesboro, son of William J. and Bertha Hinkle Mayberry. He first married Vida Lucille Creecy July 6, 1940. She died Oct. 11, 1986. He and Gracie Curtis were married Sept. 24, 1987, in Logan, Ill.
Mayberry was a timber buyer. He was a member of Valley Mission Pentecostal Church, and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bobby Mayberry of Jonesboro; four daughters, Sharon Turner of Buncombe, Sue Emerson of Cleveland, Tenn., Barbara Charles of Dongola, Margaret Shelton of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and his mother of Jonesboro.
Also surviving are four brothers, Albert, David and Floyd Mayberry, all of Jonesboro, Raymond Mayberry of Valdosta, Ga.; three sisters, Mildred Wright and Geraldine McLane of Jonesboro, Helen Keesee of Scott City, Mo.; two stepsons, David Savat of McClure, Terry Savat of Benton, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Karen Penny of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two grandchildren.
