Robert O. "Bob" Hutson, 78, of Jackson passed away Monday, July 11, 2005, at St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis. Hospitalized since March 27, he had been at St. Mary's Health Center only a week.
He was born July 16, 1926, near Burfordville, son of Odney and Iva Caroline Craig Hutson. He served in the U.S. Army 7th Infantry, and was honorably discharged Nov. 27, 1946. He and Virginia Slinkard were married April 27, 1949, in Mountain Home, Ark.
Bob was a co-owner of the former Farmer's Equipment Co. in California, Mo., from 1950 to 1955. He was employed 10 years at the former Marquette Cement in Cape Girardeau. He then worked as a meat and poultry inspector for the USDA, retiring in 1989.
Bob farmed several years with his sons. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, Disabled American Veterans in Cape Girardeau and a lifelong member of Burfordville Baptist Church.
Loving survivors include his wife, Virginia, of 56 years; two sons, David Hutson and wife Jackie of Jackson, Paul Hutson of Jackson; a brother, Pink Hutson and wife Lela of Jackson; two sisters, Ruby Clifton of Jackson, Ella Mae Cook and husband Raymond of Burfordville; and a grandson, Duston Hutson of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Services are private.
