SIKESTON -- William Robert "Gabe" Henley, 82, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, May 1, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. SIKESTON -- William Robert "Gabe" Henley, 82, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, May 1, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 16, 1913, in Lilbourn, son of William Franklin and Etta Barnett Henley. He and Dorene I. Leigh were married Dec. 20, 1939, at Charleston. She died July 8, 1993.

Henley was a truck driver with McKnight-Keaton Grocery Co. 20 years, and a truck driver with Tucker Truck Lines 22 years.

After retiring he was a bus driver for Sikeston Public Schools two years, and an enumerator with U.S. Department of Agriculture three years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Robert Henley of Sikeston; a stepson, Bobby Lott of Bennettsville, S.C.; five sisters, Pauline Limbaugh, Camille Hawkins and Loretta Stephenson of Sikeston, Ruby Triplett of Essex, Vera Freeman of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
