ANNISTON -- Robert Gene Kemp, 59, of Anniston, died Friday, April 26, 1996, at his home of an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 25, 1937, at East Prairie, son of John Shelby and Lillian Thrasher Kemp. He and Dorothy Mae Coleman were married Jan. 30, 1976. She died May 28, 1995.
Kemp was a self-employed mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two sons, Butch Kemp of California and Joey Kemp of Peoria, Ill.; a daughter, Diane Kemp of Peoria; a stepson, Kenneth Knupp of Anniston; three stepdaughters, Melody Allen of Brownwood, Rhonda and Tammy Achter, both of Anniston; two brothers, Dee Kemp of Charleston and John "Ted" Kemp of Lake Geneva, Wis.; a sister, Nadine Kemp of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The Rev. Burl Britt will officiate, with burial in the Anniston Cemetery near East Prairie.
