JACKSON -- Robert G. Little, 53, of Jackson died Saturday, Feb. 5, 1994, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 9, 1942, at Cape Girardeau, son of Percy R. and Mayme Babb Little.

He married Carolyn Reitzel, May 11, 1962.

Little was a patrolman with the Cape Girardeau Police Department from 1963 to 1965.

From July 1965 to September 1992, he was a trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. where he served as an assistant commander and a commander of the Cape Girardeau zone, before being promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 1988, when he was transferred to Troop G Headquarters in Willow Springs, Mo.

He was a member of the Missouri National Guard for 34 years. From 1970-1974, he was the company commander of the Sikeston-Portageville unit; from 1982-1987 he served as operations officer of the 35th Engineer Brigade in Jefferson Barracks, Mo.; from 1987-1990 he was the battalion commander of the 1140th Engineers with units in Portageville, Sikeston, Charleston, Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Perryville, Fredericktown and Farmington; and in 1990 he was promoted to the rank of colonel and was assigned as the commander of Camp Clark and Camp Crowder. He was transferred to the U.S. Retired Reserves on Sept. 28, 1993.

Little had a bachelor of science in management degree from Tarkio College in Tarkio, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tim Little of Cape Girardeau; a daughter JoBeth Schott of Charleston; two brothers, Bill Little of Van Buren, Mo., Jack Little of Jefferson City, Mo.; a sister, JoAnn Adams of Poplar Bluff; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
