PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robert E. "Bob" Evans, 85, of Perryville died June 16, 2012, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.
He was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Perryville, son of Gilbert and Reva Rader Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife Piccola Meador.
Mr. Evans was retired from the U.S. military. He served as chief of police in Airway Heights, Wash., and marshal at Fort Yukon, Alaska. He was of Baptist faith. His U.S. military service includes U.S. Navy South Pacific during World War II, U.S. Army during the Korean War and U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1974, including two tours in Vietnam. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 133 in Perryville.
Survivors include two daughters; one sister, Delores (Norman) Wingerter of Perryville; one niece, Diane (Mike) Phillips of Perryville; one great-niece, Melissa Phillips of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one infant brother and one infant sister. Mr. Evans will be buried privately at a later date for the family with the Rev. Gerald McBride officiating.
