CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Robert E. Riggs Sr., 555 N. Spring, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. Pastors Harold Miler and Robert Alancon will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
Riggs, 77 years old, died Friday, March 1, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1913, at Castalia, Iowa, son of William B. and Blance Martin Riggs. He married Jewell Vanover in 1937 in San Antonio, Tex. She preceded him in death. He later married Juanita Hobbs Mann Feb. 5, 1945, in San Antonio.
While living in San Antonio he was a city bus driver. He moved to Cape in 1966, and retired from Dale Vending Co. in 1982. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he had served as an elder, Sabbath School superintendent and teacher.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert E. Riggs Jr. of San Antonio; a daughter, Wanda Cameron of Maui, Hawaii; a stepdaughter, Veroncett Gerlach of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, sister and grandson.
