ULLIN, Ill. -- Robert Allen "Bob" Connell, 65, of Ullin died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
He was born July 21, 1937, at Mounds, Ill., son of Albert I. and Lucille Henson Connell.
Connell was a 1955 graduate of Mounds Township High School, and received a master's degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1964.
He taught math two years at Cairo Junior High School, taught at Shawnee Junior College, worked 10 years at Pulaski-Alexander County Mental Health Center in Cairo, retiring from the center after 40 years as a mental health counselor. He was a former counselor with Alton Mental Hospital and Beverly Farms in Alton, Ill.
Connell served as village board director at Elsa, Ill., and helped establish Elsa Museum. He was a charter member of Alton Land Mark Association.
Survivors include a brother, John Connell of Mounds.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City, Ill. Msgr. Bill McGhee will officiate.
Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
