Robert L. "Bob" Brothers, 92, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 6, 1915, in Cape Girardeau, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Schweigert Brothers. He and Norma D. Ristig were married June 4, 1938, in Luxora, Ark. She passed away Jan. 28, 2003.
He was inducted into the U.S. Navy Jan. 14, 1943. He was honorably discharged Nov. 1, 1945.
Bob worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill more than 30 years, and then worked at Lenco 10 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and former member of VFW Post 3838.
Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Becky Brothers of Carl Junction, Mo., Michael and Connie Brothers of Jackson; five grandchildren, Angela, Steven, and Jeff Brothers of Sacramento, Calif., Jason Brothers of Jackson, Jamie Brothers of St. Louis; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Monroe, and Aubrey and Keira Brothers; five sisters, Dorothy Renburg of Joplin, Mo., Betty Kester of Carthage, Mo., Lawanda Brothers of Springfield, Mo., Barbara Miller and Loretta Briggs of St. Louis.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park with graveside military honors.
Pallbearers will be Jason Brothers, Jamie Brothers, Angela Brothers, Jeff Brothers, Steven Brothers, Mark Coleman, Don Miller and Lee Brothers.
