Robert Eugene Abernathy, 58, 359 Hillcrest, died Monday, March 3, 1997, at Central Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born June 11, 1938, at Fornfelt, son of Charles Leo and Rose May Wright Abernathy. He and Linda Reinke were married Feb. 25, 1961, in Long Beach, Calif.
Abernathy was a brakeman/conductor with Cotton Belt Railroad 21 years. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Abernathy of Cape Girardeau, James Abernathy of Perryville; two daughters, Cynthia Aubuchon of Scott City, Joy Abernathy of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Chuck Abernathy of Grand Tower, Ill., William Abernathy of Chester, Ill., Larry Abernathy of Rockwood, Ill.; two sisters, Doris Hamm of Scott City, Virginia Hodges of Oran; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew Church, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Entombment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
