VIENNA, Ill. -- Robert L. Aaron, 82, of Vienna passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Autumn Ridge Supportive Living Center.

He was born Nov. 11, 1931, in West Frankfort, Ill., to Carl Burl and Margaret Parrot Ramsay Aaron. He and Mary Sue Wardell were married June 7, 1953, in Mount Erie (Wayne County), Ill.

Robert is survived by his wife; six children, Deborah Sue Aaron (Carl) Inman of Glen Carbon, Ill., Steve (Marilyn) Aaron of Nashville, Ill., Alex (Juli) Aaron of Midwest City, Okla., Cathy Aaron (Ricky) Dull of Richland, Mo., Dan (Sharlee) Aaron of Albion, Ill., and Julie Aaron (Scott) Woodward of Englewood, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet (Ken) Whitsitt, Margaret Marlatt and Laura Faye (Jim) Burns.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Thomas Aaron.

Robert was a lifelong educator. He had served in the Cisne, Sesser-Valier, Shawnee and Ashley school districts. He was an avid outdoorsman. In his retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Dixon Springs Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Ron Jackson and Bill Littrell will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in the Rock community in Pope County, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Dixon Springs Baptist Church, Mount Zion Cemetery Fund or VNA/TIP Hospice.
