RITA SOPHIA CHRONISTER

BERTRAND -- Rita Sophia Chronister, 87, of Bertrand died Saturday, Aug. 31, 1996 in the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born May 23, 1909, at Oak Ridge, daughter of Henry F. and Mary R. Robins Nichols. She married Herbert P. Chronister on Oct. 4, 1927. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1961.

She had been a member of the South Methodist Church in Lutesville since 1923. She worked at the Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston for 33 years until her retirement in 1975.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Chronister of Charleston; two daughters, Wylmoth Atkins of Charleston and Mildred Eldridge of Doniphan; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, one stepson, one stepdaughter, four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in the Baker Cemetery in Lutesville. The Rev. Robert Warren and Sister Debbie Byrne will officiate. The Shelby Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of the arrangements.
