Rita L. Scheu, 80, of Springfield, Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born July 27, 1920, in Oxford, Iowa, daughter of Roy and Marjorie Lawler O'Rourke. She and Henry J. Scheu were married July 31, 1943, in Oxford, Iowa.
Scheu lived in the Cape Girardeau area 20 years. She was a member of Church of the Little Flower Parish in Springfield.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Dr. James Scheu of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Marjorie Gladish of Springfield, Molly Turner of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters, Betty Biddick, Shirley Lemon and Della Barnett, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two brothers, David O'Rourke of Marion, Iowa, Robert Scott of Cedar Rapids; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home in Springfield from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be recited at 5.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Little Flower, with the Rev. Henry Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Clear Lake Township, Ill.
