MOREHOUSE -- Funeral service for Rita C. Bates of Morehouse will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Morehouse. The Rev. J.D. McClard will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m.

Bates, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 1995, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.

She was born Oct. 19, 1906, in Morehouse, daughter of Charles and Minnie Burnley Hall.

Bates was a lifelong resident of Morehouse. She had been a teacher in Morehouse Schools, and later was a sales representative with Olan Mills Studios.

Survivors include a sister, Juanita Dillon of Morehouse.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
