DUDLEY, Mo. -- Riley Earl Goings, 89, of Dudley died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Mo.
He was born July 17, 1911, in Sitka, Ark., son of Leaton and Maudie Higginbottom Goings. He and Ethil Ruthie Widener were married July 1, 1933. She died July 26, 1991.
He moved to Southeast Missouri in 1953, living in the Dudley community the past 40 years. He was a retired farmer and member of the Dexter Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda McNew of Senath, Mo., Kathy Harty of Dudley, Sharon Mathis of Dresden, Tenn., and Betty Johnson of Fisk, Mo.; five sons, Earl Goings of Dexter, Mo., William Goings of Arnold, Mo., Lonnie and Tommy Goings, both of Gideon, and Melvin Goings of Lake Mary, Fla.; a brother, Glenn Goings of Mangus, Ark.; four sisters, Hattie Moody of Ash Flat, Ark., Lena Hamilton of Hardy, Ark., Zelma Wilson of Koshkonong, Mo., and Wilma Warner of Paris, Ill.; 34 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dexter Church of Christ in Dexter with Dale Grissom and Jack Simons officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
