Richard L. "Rick" Webb, 65, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022 in Tampa, Florida, while on a business trip. He was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Waco, Texas.
Rick was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1976 and the University of Missouri, Rolla in 1981, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
He loved his work as an engineer and instructor in the power generation field for 40 years and was currently employed by Babcock Power as their principal field engineer. Over his career, he worked and traveled all over the world.
In school, he was active in sports, captain of the Cape Central Tiger football team and a wrestling champ. As a fan, you could frequently hear him cheering for his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the St Louis Cardinals.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Amanda Webb (Jerry) Merryman; grandchildren, Sydney, Brooklyn and Axel Jameson Merryman; parents, Richard W. and Carolyn Webb; sister, Christie (Bill) Shivelbine, all of Cape Girardeau; brother, Rodney W. Webb of DeSoto, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Taylor Shivelbine of Cape Girardeau, Will Shivelbine of St. Charles, Missouri, and Caroline and Conner Webb of DeSoto, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lyndell H. and Vera Walthall and Richard M. and Gena Webb.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial service will follow at noon Tuesday, Dec. 6, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Graveside services will be in Waco at Waco Memorial Park at a later date.
