Charles "Richard" Sturm, 68, of Scott City died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his home.

He was born May 7, 1945, in Fornfelt (Scott City) to Morris "Junior" and Laura Glen Biggs Sturm. He married Rita Mercer on Feb. 4, 1985.

Richard worked at the Scott City Sanitation Department. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; a son, Charles Sturm Jr. of California; a stepson, Terry Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Theresa Sturm of California; a stepdaughter, Rosa Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Donald (Fat) Sturm of Gordonville, William (Judy) Sturm of Jackson and Pete Sturm of Scott City; two sisters, Janet Keesee and Mary Jo (Johnny) Rogers of Scott City; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Sturm.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Morse officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery with full military honors.
