Richard McMunn

Richard L. McMunn, 81, of Villa Ridge, Ill. passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. McMunn was born June 21, 1931, in Champaign County, Ill., son of the late Richard L. McMunn, Sr. and Virginia (Carter) McMunn.

Dick served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, with one year in Iceland.

Dick was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge and a farmer; he retired from Electric Energy Inc. in Joppa, Ill.

On July 7, 1954, at the Union Church in Villa Ridge, he married Martha Ann Watson.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann McMunn of Villa Ridge; his children, Glenn (Sandy) McMunn of Villa Ridge, Brenda (Charles) Webb of McClure, Ill., and Robert (Judy) McMunn of McMinnville, Tenn.; grandchildren Holden and Evan Webb; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Cohen Webb; sister, Emily (Nils) Bjerg of Woodbury, Calif.; brother, John (Kay) McMunn of Redlands, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert McMunn.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill., with full military honors by members of the Illinois National Guard Burial Team and area veterans.
