PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Richard L. Ernst, 61, of Perryville died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at his home. He was born May 19, 1951, in Perryville, son of Flavian B. and Cleora Sutterer Ernst. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Richard L. Ernst, 61, of Perryville died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at his home.

He was born May 19, 1951, in Perryville, son of Flavian B. and Cleora Sutterer Ernst. He and Barbara K. Buerck were married July 21, 1973.

Ernst was owner/operator of Ernst Service Station and Machine Shop in McBride, Mo. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Sereno, Mo., and American Legion Post 133.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Chad (Stephanie) Ernst of Hillsboro, Mo., Nathan (Laura) Ernst and Alan Ernst of Perryville; his mother of Perryville; four siblings, Denis (Barbara M.) Ernst, Cynthia (Larry) Stearns, Michael (Karen) Ernst, Robert "Bob" Ernst, all of Perryville; three grandsons, Rowan, Reece and Greyson Ernst; and two stepgranddaughters, Colette Williams and Paige Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The parish wake will be at 6 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 8 a.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jason Schumer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 133 and Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Endowment or Garden of Hope at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
