WHITEWATER -- Richard E. Nance, 74, of Whitewater, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 16, 1919, at Whitewater, son of Andrew and Effie Young Nance. He and Geneva Brown were married Dec. 24, 1942, at Jackson.

Nance was an assemblyline worker at General Motors a number of years, retiring in 1968. He was a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church at Crump, and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 at Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Nance of Cincinnati, Ohio, Donald Nance of St. Charles, Ronald Nance of Whitewater; a daughter, Pam Baumer of Cincinnati; a brother, Ernest Nance of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Sadie Davis of Scott City, Alma Bacon of Dupo, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Revs. Wayne Johnson and Jimmie Fulbright will officiate, with burial in Stroderville Cemetery at Whitewater.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
