ANNA, Ill. -- Rich Fabec, 46, of Anna passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Union County Hospital. Rich was born Nov. 11, 1968, in Lickey, Pennsylvania, the son of Richard George and Ann (Boling) Fabec. He married Sonya Clardy on Oct. 5, 1997. ANNA, Ill. -- Rich Fabec, 46, of Anna passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Union County Hospital.

Rich was born Nov. 11, 1968, in Lickey, Pennsylvania, the son of Richard George and Ann (Boling) Fabec. He married Sonya Clardy on Oct. 5, 1997.

He was a professional musician and taught guitar and bass lessons at Shawnee Community College in addition to private lessons and also lessons at Byassee Music in Marion, Illinois. He was a member and worship leader at First Presbyterian Church in Herrin, Illinois. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.

Rich's love for music and his larger-than-life personality took him all over the world, performing in various venues, including the Grand Ole Opry. His music is known the world over. Throughout our region, he played in the Rich Fabec Band, as well as with Steve Hornbeak and The Main Street Players.

Music was his life, and he was always prepared for any occasion with his guitar. He said, "You never know when there's going to be a guitar emergency."

He is survived by his wife, Sonya Fabec of Anna; a son, Garrett Fabec of Anna; a daughter, Morgan (Brandon) Sullens of Anna; a granddaughter, Gracelynn Marie Sullens of Anna; two sisters, Dr. Beth (Ron Lombardo) Reynolds of Munroe Falls, Ohio, and Michelle Fabec of Northfield, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Clardy of Anna; two sisters-in-law, Gloria (Todd) Blanford of Marion and Teresa (Tony) Goins of Miramar Beach, Florida; three nephews, Kevin Reynolds, Dylan Spangler and Jake Spangler; three nieces, Megan (Kristopher) King, Lauren (Tyler) Hoepker and Alexis Goins; and aunts, uncles and all his very special relatives in Pittsburgh.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his father in-law, Jim Clardy.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Michael Neubert officiating. Interment will follow at Anna City Cemetery.

There will be a scholarship established in Rich's name, and contributions will be accepted at the funeral home.
