PUXICO, Mo. — The Rev. Samuel Lynn Brotherton, 74, of Puxico died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 26, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to John H. and Vena Lou Brotherton.
Samuel was a truck driver by trade, was a member of the National Guard and, after retirement, pastored several churches. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Wappapello, Missouri.
He and Donna Wallace were married Oct. 15, 1999, in Chino Valley, Arizona.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kevin (Traci) Brotherton and Greg Brotherton, both of Wappapello; stepson, Robert (Shaw) Hudson of Prescott, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Teresa Brotherton of Wappapello; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Richard) Mallory and Carlissa (Troy) Dempsey, both of Wappapello, Levi Brotherton of Delaware, Katlyn Brotherton of Blytheville, Arkansas, John Brotherton of Wappapello, Gavin Brotherton of Jackson and Hayven and Payson Hudson of Prescott; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Brotherton of Jackson and Scott (Sandy) Brotherton; and a sister, Padge (John) Haman.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents and son, Reid Brotherton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Ford and Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Missouri.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Burchett officiating.
Donations may be made in Samuel's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
