The Rev. Raymond Allan Meek, 85, of Glen Allen died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 4, 1938, at the farm near Abington, Wayne County, Indiana, to Glen Dale and Anna Marie Bartling Meek.
Ray and Quelda Janis Burner Meek were married Jan. 7, 1956, at the Centerville Christian Church in Centerville, Indiana. Both Ray and Quelda attended Centerville High School. There were five sons born to this marriage.
Ray was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Ray was a local pastor of small country Baptist churches for many years. He received Jesus Christ as his Savior on Oct. 13, 1974, in St. Louis County. Brother Ray, as many folk knew him, was called to proclaim the Gospel in October 1977 at New Trace Creek Baptist Church. Miller’s Chapel Church was his first pastorate. Most recently, he was a member of New Trace Creek Church. Ray was also a Farm Bureau member and Farm Bureau Insurance agent for several years and also a real estate agent. He also had his own tax preparation service for several years.
He is survived by four sons, Tim (Kay) Meek of Marble Hill; Randall Scott (Flora) Meek of Cape Girardeau; Bart Meek of Midland, Texas; and Pastor Derrick (Amy) Meek of Marquand; one brother, Glen Wayne (Vicki) Meek of Richmond, Indiana; one sister, Betty Rose Meek (Don) Dils of Richmond; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Marquis Meek; and sister, Jo Ann Maher.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, April 22, at Ford and Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral service will follow at noon with the Rev. Derrick Meek and Tim Meek officiating.
Burial will be at New Trace Creek Cemetery in Bollinger County.
