STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- The Rev. Lewis Ivan Todd, 64, of Ste. Genevieve, formerly of Oran, Mo., died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home.
He was born Dec. 7, 1949, in Lawrence, Kan., to James Archibald and Opal Marie Andress Todd. He was one of 12 children.
Lewis grew up and spent most of his life in Carthage, Mo., where he graduated from high school.
At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He remained there two years during the Vietnam War.
After his discharge, he spent two years in California working in a chemical plant before returning to Carthage to live and work as a sanitation worker as well as at Smith Brothers Manufacturing. He and Patricia Ann Thornton were married April 10, 1972.
He was a Baptist minister 38 years. Throughout the years, he served as a pastor of churches in Missouri and Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Carrie Ann Ehrenreich; a son, Matthew Ivan Todd; two granddaughters, Megan Rose and Hannah Ranee; two grandsons, Justin and Johnathan; and other relatives and many friends.
Family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Don Pennington officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo. Full military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset final expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
