PATTON, Mo. -- The Rev. Julius E. Mills, 74, of Patton died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown, Mo. He was born July 1, 1926, at Marquand, Mo., son of the Rev. James and Lula Shrum Mills. He and Esther Moyers Miller were married Jan. 17, 1958...

PATTON, Mo. -- The Rev. Julius E. Mills, 74, of Patton died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown, Mo.

He was born July 1, 1926, at Marquand, Mo., son of the Rev. James and Lula Shrum Mills. He and Esther Moyers Miller were married Jan. 17, 1958.

Mills was a machinist. He became an ordained minister in 1956 at the Southeast Missouri Congregational Methodist Association. He was a weather watcher for KFVS-TV, and a former fire chief with Patton Fire Department.

He was a member and pastor of Post Oak First Congregational Methodist Church in Patton, and member of American Legion in Fredericktown, Mo.

Mills served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Mills of Patton, Perry Miller of Marble Hill, Mo.; two daughters, Lee Ann Mills of Marquand, Linda Tawfall of Fredericktown; five brothers, James and the Rev. Ray Mills of Fredericktown, the Rev. Jesse Mills of Sedgewickville, Mo., the Rev. Ronnie Mills and Melvin Mills of Marquand; four sisters, Metta Matthews of Jackson, Mo., Melba Sharrock and Mavis Revelle of Patton, Helen Griffon of Fredericktown; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Revs. Cecil Sheppard, Ray Mills and Mick Ackman will officiate. Burial will be in Post Oak Cemetery near Patton.
