SEDGEWICKVILLE -- The Rev. Fred H. Shrum, 88, of Sedgewickville died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.
He was born Aug. 19, 1908, in Perry County, son of James M. and Rosa B. Meyer Shrum. He and Emma Lukefahr were married Nov. 24, 1934.
Shrum attended Perryville High School, Southeast Missouri State University, and completed studies at Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas.
He taught at rural schools in Perry and Bollinger counties before becoming a United Methodist minister.
Shrum was a member of Crossroads Methodist Church and Retired Methodist Ministers Association.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Corine Daugherty of Marble Hill; a sister, Lillie Blaylock of Perryville; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4-9 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30 a.m.-noon.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Church, with the Revs. Michael Davis and Howard Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
