DEXTER, Mo. -- The Rev. Charles Greene, 67, of Dexter died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born Oct. 24, 1933, in McLain, Miss., son of Richard and Carrie Brewer Greene. He and Charlotte Kay Lawrence were married May 15, 1954, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Greene was a retired General Baptist minister, and was a member of Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter. He lived in the Bernie, Mo., and Malden, Mo., areas, moved to Illinois, and then back to Dexter five years ago.
He served 14 years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gordon and Richard Greene of Dexter, Darrin Greene of Bloomfield, Mo.; a daughter, Suzanne Frye of Cumberland, Md.; a sister, Geraldine Muscio of McLain; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, and a daughter.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dean Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery.
