MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. Buford Harold Sitze, 87, of Marble Hill died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000.
He was born Nov. 22, 1912, at Bessville, Mo., son of Rosewell and Effie Jane Goodson Sitze.
He and Virginia Vance were married July 5, 1941.
Sitze was ordained as a minister on Nov. 5, 1961. He served as pastor at the Old Trace Creek, Mount Carmel, Greenville First Baptist and Shetley's Creek churches. He was ordained as a deacon Nov. 26, 1950. He was a member of the Old Trace Creek Church, where he served as the church clerk several years. He was a member of the Old Trace Creek Cemetery Fund. He was an Army veteran during World War II. He was awarded two bronze stars in the Luzon campaign in New Guinea. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5900 in Marble Hill.
Survivors include his wife.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today to service time at Old Trace Creek Church.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Fred Ritter and the Rev. Randy Krannig officiating. Burial will be in the church's cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 5900.
