The Rev. Arley M. Roberts, 82, of Hillsboro died Friday, Dec. 9, 1994, at Festus Nursing Center.

He was born March 2, 1912, in Salem, son of Matt and Alberta Hayes Roberts. He and Opal Mounce were married Jan. 25, 1930.

Roberts became an Assembly of God minister in the late 1930s. He pastored churches in Bartley, Berryman, Glory Hill, Potosi, Pacific, Steele, Scott City, Webb City, Mercer and DeSoto. He pastored in DeSoto from 1965-80. He was presbyter of the Cape Girardeau section several years.

Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Ruth Marshall and Emmagene Ratliff of Cape Girardeau, Grace Brewer of High Ridge, Bernice Ross of Hillsboro, Shirley Beecham of Martin, Tenn., Frances Held of Festus, Sharon Schmitt of DeSoto; a son, Larry Roberts of Hillsboro; three sisters, Maxine Majors and Irene Wells of Salem, Muriel Nie of Pacific; two brothers, Rev. Carl Roberts of Rolla, Louie Roberts of Salem; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a grandson.

Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in DeSoto is in charge of arrangements.
