CHARLESTON - Rena Syre, 89, formerly of Bertrand, died Friday Dec. 7, 1990 at 6:30 p.m. at the Charleston Manor. She was born Feb. 28, 1901 in Bertrand to the late John and Dora Hall.
She lived in Bertrand most of her life and had been employed with the International Shoe Co. in Sikeston. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Charleston.
On March 1, 1919 she married Walter Norvel Syre, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1957. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, John W. Syre, of Bertrand; two daughters, Imogene Miller of Bertrand, and Pauline Burks, of Ripley, Miss.; a brother, John Hall, of Sikeston; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at McMikel Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Bill Meeks, pastor of First General Baptist Church of Charleston, and Rev. Jim Romine, pastor of the Cornerstone General Baptist Church of Bertrand, officiating.
Burial wil be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
