Raymond David Sexton, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Fountainbleau Lodge. He was born June 14, 1921, in New York City, son of David and Marie Halpin Sexton. He married Catherine Kelly in 1978. She preceded him in death March 1, 1996. He grew up in New York City, worked for the state of New York welfare services, was a retired Teamster with local Union 816. He was an avid hockey fan, Yankees fan, and he played stickball with Walter Matthau...

Raymond David Sexton, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

He was born June 14, 1921, in New York City, son of David and Marie Halpin Sexton. He married Catherine Kelly in 1978. She preceded him in death March 1, 1996. He grew up in New York City, worked for the state of New York welfare services, was a retired Teamster with local Union 816. He was an avid hockey fan, Yankees fan, and he played stickball with Walter Matthau.

He is survived by four sons, Kevin Sexton and wife Crystal of Cape Girardeau, Edward Smith and wife Vivian of Pennsylvania, Michael Smith and Robert Smith and wife Tracy of Swansboro, N.C.; five daughters, Alice Morris and Cynthia Bianchi of New York, N.Y., Veronica Bailey of Cleveland, Ohio, Kathryn Vallerio of Swansboro, Christine Abernathy and husband Thomas of Perryville, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a great grandchild.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Ford and Sons Funeral Home, 1001 N. Mount Auburn Road, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
