The funeral for Raymond M. Nichols Sr. of Cape Girardeau will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 8:30 a.m.
Nichols, 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Nov. 5, 1918, at Chaffee, Mo., son of William and Emma Snider Nichols. He and Una Norman were married Aug. 15, 1936.
Nichols was a 1936 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau. He was a truck driver with Elfrink Truck Lines many years, retiring in 1979. He was a member and deacon at Red Star Baptist Church.
He served with the 2nd Armored Division in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Raymond Nichols Jr. of Arnold, Mo.; a sister, Alberta Evans of Hemet, Calif.; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and four sisters.
