ADVANCE, Mo. -- Raymond Clarence Mayberry, 86, of Advance passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, near Advance.

He was born April 15, 1923, at Maynard, Ark., sone of Henry and Elizabeth Foster Mayberry. He married Polly Hahn, who preceded him in death. He later married Sidney Lichtig on June 21, 1978, in Jackson. She survives of the home.

Mayberry was a retired businessman in Advance. He was a member of Advance First Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW and Advance Masonic Lodge and a past master. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II as a medic.

Other survivors include two sons, Don Mayberry of Zalma, Mo., and Tony Mayberry of Rockwood, Ill.; a stepson, Mark Grindstaff of Prospect, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Shawn Sales of Farmington, Mo., and Tiffany Deimund of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, Don Mayberry of Michigan; a sister, Victoria Carroll of Peoria, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tommy Mayberry.

Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Shrum officiating. Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Todd Mayberry, Danny Mayberry and Matthew Mayberry, grandson-in-law Chad Fisher, Brock Cato and Robert England.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandson David Mayberry, 2nd Lt. U.S. Air Force in Iraq, great-grandson Brandon Border, U.S. Air Force in England, and Mayor James Harnes.
