CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Raymond Browning Gill Jr., 68, of Charleston died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Bertrand Nursing Facility in Bertrand, Mo.
He was born March 9, 1932, in Memphis, Tenn., son of Raymond Browning and Dorothy Bird Gill. He and Marilyn Story were married in October 1969.
Gill was a graduate of The McCauley School and Vanderbilt University, where he originated the campus radio station.
He had worked at WHBQ-TV in Memphis, WMC Radio, WMC-TV, and most recently was manager at WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Ala., for the New York Times.
Gill had lived in Charleston since 1992. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Raymond Gill III of Memphis; three daughters, Lisa Clark of Huntsville, Shannon Selig of Santa Fe, N.M., Mary Peyton Gill of Vail, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, with prayer by the Rev. Ed Hankinson at 2:45.
Friends may also call at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis after noon Sunday. A memorial service and burial will be at 1 p.m. The Rev. Reynolds Cheney will officiate.
