Raymond Bruenderman

Raymond Bernard Bruenderman, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Charleston, Mo., son of Bernard Joseph and Margaret Louise Renaud Bruenderman. He was the husband of Louise Carlisle Bruenderman, who passed away July 11, 1996. They were married May 13, 1935, in Charleston.

Bruenderman was a self-employed merchant and farmer in Charleston, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1960. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Men's Council, 4th Degree Knight and honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111. He attended 15 White House retreats, Marriage Encounter, Legion of Mary, Cursillo and Life in the Spirit.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph Bruenderman of Festus, Mo., Donald Bruenderman of Charleston, William Bruenderman of Pana, Ill., John Bruenderman of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mary Ellen Hails of Evansville, Ind., Rose Ann Nadler of Fenton, Mo.; a brother, Bernard Bruenderman of Wilsonville, Ore.; a sister, Mary Lou Newcomb of Charleston; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.

Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cape Girardeau. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
