Raymon Lewis Franklin, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Life Care Center.

He was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Huntsville, Missouri, to Lewis Henry and Cora Bell Vass Franklin. He and Marilyn L. Porter were married Jan. 26, 1948, in Moberly, Missouri. She died Aug. 1, 2010.

Raymon served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947.

He was a truck driver for ABF and Uregas. After retiring from ABF, Raymon and Marilyn volunteered at Saint Francis Medical Center 18 years, devoting a combination of more than 25,000 hours. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church and was truly a wonderful Christian man who was loved dearly by his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Rayma L. Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau and Vonda L. VanGennip and husband Greg of Jackson; two sons, William L. Franklin and wife Violet of Cape Girardeau and Philip L. Franklin and wife Pam of Jackson; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Eric Franklin of Bertrand, Missouri, Jill Labbee and husband Nic of House Springs, Missouri, Jeremy Franklin and wife Kara of Cape Girardeau, Michelle VanGennip and Garrett VanGennip of Jackson; two stepgrandchildren, Kelsie Snider and Kaleb Snider of Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Emma Labbee and Lucas Labbee of House Springs and Brayden Franklin of Cape Girardeau; and a great-stepgrandchild, Jaiden Purkey of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Missouri Honors Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Friends of Saint Francis, Saint Francis Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Marilyn.
