MINER -- Ray Sisco, 51, of Miner died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, in an explosion near Charleston.
He was born Feb. 7, 1947, at Doniphan, son of Charles Fred and Rhoda Lucinda Wilder Sisco. He and Sue McDowell were married April 9, 1965, in Sikeston.
Sisco owned Sisco's Trucking. He served on the Miner Board of Aldermen nine years, and was currently running for re-election. He attended Eastside Church of the Nazarene.
He was a member of Miner Volunteer Fire Department 19 years, and had received Fireman of the Year four out of five times the program was offered. He volunteered many hours to the city of Miner, working with the street, fire and police departments.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pam Smith of Miner, Susan Cooksey of Matthews; two brothers, Bud Sisco of Doniphan, Eddie Sisco of Fairdealing; five sisters, Juanita Elliott of Puxico, Edna Maxwell and Hazel Morse of Doniphan, Beulah McKnight of Benton, Linda Garren of Gatewood; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Preston Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
