Simonton, 52, died Wednesday, April 2, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born May 17, 1944, in Corning, Ark., son of E.A. and Wilma Baker Simonton. He and Donna Guethle were married April 13, 1996, at Dexter.

Simonton was a graduate of Dyersburg Junior College in Dyersburg, Tenn.

He was employed by Caruthersville Police Department 12 years, and was a child support enforcement officer in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau several years. He was head of maintenance at St. Mary's Grade School from 1991-96, and was currently head of maintenance at St. Vincent's Grade School.

Simonton moved to Cape Girardeau in 1986 from St. Louis. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Shawn Simonton of Dyes Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, Bobby and Roger Eldridge of Caruthersville; three daughters, Dionna Nelson and Andrea Easley of Jonesboro, Ark., Sabra Creed of Panama City, Fla.; and 15 grandchildren.
