VAN BUREN - Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Ray Hilterbrand of Van Buren, formerly of Cape Girardeau. He died Saturday, April 6, 1991, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. He was 68.
He was born April 16, 1922 at Ellsinore, Mo. He was a retired college professor, having taught at Shawnee Community College and Purdue University.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Buren, and had served on the city council in Van Buren, the planning and zoning commission, the Foothills Regional Planning Commission and the Area Agency on Aging. He was also a veteran of World War II.
On Sept. 6, 1948, he married Lena Nichols in Van Buren. He is survived by his wife; one son, Nathan Hilterbrand of Independence; two brothers, Willard Hilterbrand and Wayne Hilterbrand of Van Buren; two sisters, Clio Coleman of Van Buren and Lucille Kitchen of Ellsinore; and two grandchildren,
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Van Buren, with the Rev. Randy Mullinax officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 tonight. Burial will be in Van Buren Masonic Cemetery.
