CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Ray Cleman Edmonds, 83, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 14, 1918, at Commerce, Mo., son of Ulyes and Addie Sanders Edmonds. He and Florence Pobst were married Dec. 19, 1942...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Ray Cleman Edmonds, 83, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 14, 1918, at Commerce, Mo., son of Ulyes and Addie Sanders Edmonds. He and Florence Pobst were married Dec. 19, 1942.

Edmonds had lived most of his life in Charleston, where he worked at the A.S.C.S. office. He then served as vice president and manager of the Production Credit Association until his retirement.

He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church. He was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in Charleston and had served as a deacon there. He was a former member of the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs in Charleston.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Don Edmonds of Columbia, Tenn., and a daughter, Shirley Maloney of Manchester, Mo.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Derek Staples officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
