Ralph Benjamin Exler, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 7, 1999, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1915, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Benjamin and Clara Niedling Exler. He first married Eva K. Brinkmann May 23, 1943, at Egypt Mills. She died May 23, 1971. He later married Marie G. Weber Nov. 11, 1973, in Paris, Tenn.

Exler farmed in the Egypt Mills area, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church and its Men's Club, Lutheran Laymen's League, Aid Association for Lutherans, and choir.

Survivors are his wife; a son, Lee Exler of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Carol Koeppel of Jackson; three sisters, Gertrude Cotner and Viola Schlegel, both of Cape Girardeau, Cecil Dunn of Sulphur, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills. The Rev. Jeffrey Sippy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
