Polly Du Val Kinder, 64, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 27, 1937, in Longview, Texas, daughter of Philo Hooper and Pauline Matthews Du Val. She and Dr. Jerry Kinder were married Dec. 31, 1959, in Shreveport, La.

Polly grew up in Shreveport. She received a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Arkansas.

She and Jerry moved to Cape Girardeau in 1967. She was a member of La Croix United Methodist Church, P.E.O., Salvation Army Board, Thursday Tennis Group, and a member and past president of Cape County Medical Auxiliary.

Polly was instrumental in establishing Young Life in Cape Girardeau and was a board member.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. John and Stacy Kinder of Cape Girardeau, David and Marie Louise Kinder of Houston, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Polly Ann and Jeff Whittle of Houston, Susan and Stan Ivie of Sikeston, Mo.; a brother, Philo Hooper Du Val Jr. of Benton, La.; nine grandchildren, Stan and Ashley Ivie of Sikeston; Luke, Katie and Matthew Kinder of Cape Girardeau; Grace, Nathan and Angela Whittle of Houston; and Corbin Richard Kinder of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at La Croix United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ron Watts will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Harry Rust, Rock Wilferth, Dr. Ed Noffel, Dr. Don Edwards, Dr. Ray Ritter Sr., Dr. Robert Hunt, Dr. Steve Whitten, Jerry Stone, Han Kang, and Dr. Keith Deimund.

Memorials may be made to Young Life or La Croix United Methodist Church.
