Phyllis Smith, a Cape Girardeau resident known for her love of nature and family, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 16, 2024. Survived by her three daughters and numerous grandchildren, she will be deeply missed.

Phyllis Smith, beloved resident of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, peacefully in her home. She was born Feb. 2, 1944.

Phyllis was married to Ronnie Smith on April 2, 1961, and together they had three children.

She enjoyed outdoor activities, such as fishing and looking for morel mushrooms and ginseng in the woods. She found peace and joy in nature and spent many happy hours exploring the great outdoors. In times not spent outdoors, she was always with her family.

Phyllis will be remembered for her warm heart, feisty spirit and love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include three daughters, Leona (David) Gramlisch, Tina (Lloyd) Voerg and Rhonda (Keith) Compas. She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Jessica (Derick) McClain, Phillip (Mandy) Gramlisch, Ryan (Rachel) Voerg and Jordan (Brian) Sachs. She also had four great-grandchildren she adored, Connor, Hunter, Renly and Natalie.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at noon Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home, with Dr. Fred Burgard officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
