Phyllis M. Oliver, 82, of Jackson went to Heaven Monday, Dec. 13, 2021. She passed away at Aspire Senior Living in Advance, Missouri.
Phyllis was born June 16, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to Guy Eugene and Laura Edith Propst Swaim. She and Jerry L. Oliver were married Dec. 10, 1956, in Cape Girardeau.
Phyllis attended the Franklin and May Green Elementary schools in Cape Girardeau and was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She then completed two semesters at Southeast Missouri State University.
In her early 20s, Phyllis received Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a revival at Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She was a dedicated Christian who spent a great part of her young life visiting nursing homes and prospects for Sunday school. Phyllis was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, but had been a member of two other Baptist churches. She was active in each of their respective missionary units and was faithful in sending letters of encouragement to missionaries and visiting them when they came home on furlough.
Phyllis worked at Cape Screw Products and was an assistant manager at the Gift Horse in West Park Mall.
She was an expert seamstress and made most of her children's clothing when they were small. She even made Jerry a few pant suits when they were in style. She was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed "until that day."
Loving survivors include her husband of 65 years, Jerry Oliver of Jackson; a daughter, Crystal Daniel of Jackson; two sons, Jeffery Oliver of Burfordville and Jay Oliver of Jackson; three grandsons, Cory (Kristen) Daniel of Jackson, Caleb (Nikki) Daniel of Millersville and Stephen (Casey) Oliver of Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Masyn, Kylie, Rowyn and Caden; and Jerry's siblings, Shirley (Don) Matthis of Yukon, Oklahoma; Karen (the late Robert) Glaub of Wentzville, Missouri; and Jim Oliver of Nashville, Tennessee.
