Phyllis Jean Limbaugh Jones, born Oct. 18, 1932, in Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, in Austin, Texas.

She was the daughter of Margaret Cook Limbaugh and Ruthford Limbaugh of Cape Girardeau and sister of Patricia Limbaugh Atchley, who all preceded her in death.

Phyllis grew up in Cape Girardeau and graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1954, majoring in home economics. In June 1956, she married DeWayne B. Jones from West Virginia after meeting at a USO in St. Louis. Phyllis taught high-school home economics and gave birth to two sons while residing in St. Louis.

In 1974, Gulf Oil Co. moved Dewayne and Phyllis to Shreveport, Louisiana, from where they saw these sons graduate college and begin their own families.

In 1996, DeWayne, her husband of 40 years, passed away, and shortly thereafter, Phyllis moved to Texas. During her life, Phyllis enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel and often included her children and grandchildren on these memorable trips.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Mark Jones and his wife, Michelle, of Shreveport and Kirk Jones and his wife, Alicia, of Austin; and grandchildren Brooke Jones, Claire Jones, Lauren Monroe, Trevor Jones and Tyler Jones.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Phyllis Jean Limbaugh Jones will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Couch Chapel First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. Officiating will be the Rev. Caroline Wilkinson.
